Welle is committed to protecting your privacy and complying with all applicable data protection regulations, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Apple’s App Store Review Guidelines (Section 5.1.1 – Data Collection and Storage), and Google’s Developer Program Policies (Section 4.5 – Data Deletion).
This article explains how to permanently delete your Welle account and what happens to your data after deletion.
Before you begin
Before requesting account deletion, please ensure your subscription to be canceled.
If your account has an active subscription, it must be canceled before deletion. You will continue to be charged if your subscription remains active. [See how to cancel your subscription.]
Steps to delete your account
- Open the Welle app or log in to your account.
- Navigate to: My profile > Account info > Delete account
- Confirm your request when prompted.
What happens after you request deletion
- You will be automatically signed out from all devices.
- Your account will become inaccessible, and all associated health data will be removed from the user interface.
- Your deletion request will be reviewed by Welle’s HIPAA-authorized privacy team within 7 business days to ensure proper data handling and compliance.
Data deletion and HIPAA compliance
- Welle takes your health privacy seriously. Upon approval of your deletion request:
- Your personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI) will be permanently deleted or anonymized in accordance with HIPAA guidelines under 45 CFR §164.514.
- Any backups or logs that contain PHI will be securely purged or de-identified as per internal data retention policies.
- A record of your deletion request (with no PHI) may be retained solely for audit and legal compliance purposes.
Important notes
- This action is irreversible. Once your data is anonymized or deleted, it cannot be restored.
- Welle does not sell or share your personal health data with third parties without your explicit consent.
- If you need a copy of your data before deletion, please request it through the Welle Care Team prior to submitting your deletion request.
