Preparing for your lab draw

Getting ready for your lab draw is simple. Follow this preparation timeline to help ensure the most accurate results.

72 hours before your visit

Stop taking supplements

Supplements can temporarily affect certain biomarkers and skew your results.

  • Avoid all supplements for 72 hours before your test

  • Continue doctor-prescribed medications

If you take biotin or have recently had vitamin or mineral infusions, consult your doctor as they may need to be stopped earlier.

48 hours before your visit

Avoid seafood

Many types of seafood, especially shellfish and large fish such as tuna or swordfish, contain trace amounts of mercury and arsenic.

Eating seafood shortly before testing may temporarily elevate these levels and lead to false positives or skewed results in heavy metal screenings.

Avoid strenuous exercise

Intense workouts can temporarily affect biomarkers related to muscle breakdown and inflammation.

Avoid activities such as:

  • heavy weightlifting

  • HIIT workouts

  • endurance training

Light activities like walking, stretching, or yoga are fine.

24 hours before your visit

Continue avoiding strenuous exercise and focus on light activity only.

This helps prevent temporary changes in biomarkers that could affect your results.

8 hours before your visit

Begin your fast

To ensure accurate results, fast for at least 8 hours before your appointment.

During your fast:

  • Do not eat food

  • Avoid drinks including coffee or alcohol

  • Water is allowed and encouraged

Morning of your visit

Drink water

Proper hydration helps make veins easier to locate and allows the blood draw to go more smoothly.

Drink at least 1 liter of water before your appointment.

Avoid exercise

Do not exercise the morning of your lab visit.

At Your Visit

Arrive 10 minutes early

Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your appointment and bring a valid photo ID.
Arriving late may change your visit to a walk-in, which could increase wait time or affect your ability to complete your visit.

Plan for up to 30 minutes

The lab draw itself typically takes about 15 minutes. We recommend allowing up to 30 minutes total for check-in and any wait time.

Your visit may include both blood and urine testing.

You do not need to provide insurance information or make any payment at the lab visit.

Following these steps will help ensure accurate results and a smooth lab draw experience.
